HEAF Alumni Reunion
On March 13, a group of 30 HEAF alumni from the high school graduating classes 1996 to 2008 gathered at White Rabbit for an evening full of food, fun and reconnection. The newly formed HEAF Alumni Committee hosted the event. The party at White Rabbit is a first of a series of events the committee will be hosting throughout the year.
Over the past few months, the alumni committee worked tirelessly to bring to fruition the first annual HEAF Reunion. Under the leadership of alumni Miosotis Perez (Class of 2003), the newly-founded HEAF Alumni Committee joined forces with Onward Associate Director Aneicka Bookal to organize a fun night for former students to re-connect.
HEAF alums from the high school graduating classes of 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 gathered at White Rabbit Lounge in the East Village. Over food and drink, the alums caught up with their fellow HEAFers. The Reunion marked the inaugural event of the newly formed HEAF Alumni Committee, which is headed by Ms. Perez, Clara Correra, Sofia Aba Jebel, Justin Tindley and Leyda Perez.
The event was a tremendous success, with a number of alums expressing interest in joining the Alumni Committee and attending future HEAF events. “It was a fantastic evening,” Ms. Bookal beamed. “I cannot wait for the Alumni Committee to continue to grow and produce more wonderful get-togethers like this one.”
Ms. Perez agreed. “I loved getting together with old friends, many of whom I have not seen since high school!” stated Ms. Perez. “I look forward to holding more of these events and seeing more HEAF alumni.”
If you missed the White Rabbit event and want to be involved in these events in the future, please contact Ms. Perez at mios.perez@gmail.com for information on the next Alumni Committee meeting.
